Amazonite has been discovered as cut polished beads and jewelry adornments with Pharoahs remains of Ancient Egypt, including King Tutankhamun in 1300. Going then primarily by the name Microline, a pottasium-rich variety of Feldspar. This gemstone is rarely used in mass-market jewelry as  manufacturers have difficulty finding an adequate supply of the gem material and it is generally unknown to the market. It is most often found in one-of-a-kind or bespoke artisan creations. The most popular supply of Amazonite comes from Teller County, Colorado. Often accompanied by other gemstones such as Quartz and Tourmaline. Being relatively soft on the Mohs scale at a 6-6.5, it is important to take precautions when sporting this semi precious stone. Avoid contact with rough or hard surfaces as if knocked it may lead to abbrasions or cleavage splits.
